Astronomers detect an object speeding through the Solar System
An object crossing the Solar System has sparked excitement among astronomers. The assumption that it is a comet is not the main point. This is something that has come from deep space—from the interstellar medium. In the history of astronomy, only three such cases have been recorded. For example, Earth’s orbit is nearly circular, Pluto’s orbit is distinctly oval, and many comets follow elongated elliptical orbits. Since the comet was first detected at a distance of 420 million miles from Earth, astronomers have been observing it using telescopes worldwide.
