Bad guys won’t serve in the US Army
Bad guys in the US have been banned by Trump. They are now barred from joining the military. Even the Supreme Court did not oppose the ban on transgender individuals serving in the armed forces. The court voted in favor of the White House’s decision. The president’s directive was one of several steps he took to limit transgender rights. The court’s brief ruling was unsigned, as is typical in emergency cases. The court has a conservative majority of 6-3. Three liberal justices publicly expressed their dissent.
Previously, a US district judge had ruled that Trump’s directive likely violated the right to equal protection under the law guaranteed by the Fifth Amendment to the US Constitution. Trump signed the directive in January, reversing Biden’s policy. The latter had allowed transgender soldiers to serve in the US armed forces.
Biden had stated at the time that America would be safer when everyone eligible to serve could do so openly and with pride. Trump’s directive labels transgender people’s gender identity as a lie and asserts that they are incapable of meeting the standards required for military service.
