Bungie games will soon be enriched with the shooter Marathon. The developers have already revealed some details about the new project. Bungie fans learned that the characters will face intense confrontations. The battles will feature a 3v3 format. The plot of Marathon will take gamers to Tau Ceti IV, where Runners search for treasures in the ruins. Among these treasures are AIs. So far, the developer has revealed four of them: Locus, Blackbird, Glitch, and Void.
Marathon is an extraction shooter. The game revolves around searching for valuables and escaping in a looped gameplay cycle. The number of players will increase as the game progresses, potentially reaching up to 18 players. Artistically, Marathon stands out among many other shooters due to its style.
As a reminder, Bungie was acquired by PlayStation’s Sony in 2022 but remains an independent multiplatform developer. The new game will serve as a litmus test to determine whether the studio has retained its former potential. Marathon is set to launch by the end of this year.
