China has launched large-scale military exercises around Taiwan
China began large-scale maneuvers around Taiwan on Tuesday. The exercises involve the army, navy, and missile forces. China initiated the drills following a statement from Taiwan’s leader, who referred to Beijing as a “hostile force,” according to [xrust](https://xrust.ru/). In response, Chinese authorities called Taiwan’s president a “parasite.” China considers President Lai a “separatist.” In a video accompanying the announcement of the maneuvers, he was depicted as a cartoon bug squirming on a stick, with a burning Taiwan underneath. The main aim of the exercises, Chinese military officials explained, is to demonstrate combat readiness across all theaters of potential military operations. Additionally, air and sea routes approaching Taiwan will be blocked. Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense has already reported that the Chinese aircraft carrier group “Shandong” entered the island’s response zone on Monday.
