Each civilization goes through eras, which represent technological leaps from ancient times to the age of exploration and ending with the modern era. Along the way, you will encounter other civilizations with which you can trade, form alliances, or wage war. The player must decide, through a multitude of choices and research options, which civilization they want to develop. Players can build an empire through military actions or become an economic power using trade and diplomacy. How you choose to play is up to you. The winner is the civilization that is the most advanced by the end of the last era.
