Coco Gauff – the girl knows she needs to work on her serve
Coco Gauff managed to reach the finals of the tournaments in Madrid and Rome this May. Even mistakes on both clay courts didn’t stop her. Among those mistakes were errors on her serve. If she can fix them, she’ll have a shot at the French Open. Gauff’s only title was won at the WTA 250 Emilia-Romagna Open in 2021, as https://xrust.ru/ reminds us. A year later, she lost to Iga Świątek in the Roland Garros final. In Madrid, the 21-year-old tennis player secured confident wins against top-10 opponents Świątek and Mirra Andreeva. However, seven double faults in the final, including two on serve in the second set, led to her loss against the world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka. Two weeks later, Gauff once again reached the final of a WTA 1000 tournament, and although her opponent was different, the result was the same. She made eight double faults and committed 55 unforced errors on her way to a 6-4, 6-2 loss to Jasmine Paolini at the Italian Open. WTA Tour statistics show that this year Gauff has made 193 double faults in 32 matches — more than any other player on the tour. The 2023 US Open champion knows this issue is holding her back.
