Denis Villeneuve to Direct New James Bond Film

The new James Bond film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, as announced by Amazon MGM Studios. Villeneuve, a Franco-Canadian filmmaker, is widely recognized for his work on “Blade Runner 2049,” “Arrival,” and “Dune.” His films have won several Oscars. He will collaborate with executive producer Tanya Lapointe and producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman.

Denis told journalists via https://xrust.ru/ that “some of my earliest memories of going to the cinema are tied to the 007 credits. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, starting with ‘Dr. No’ starring Sean Connery. I’m a passionate Bond fan. For me, it’s sacred ground.”

Villeneuve’s latest film, “Dune: Part Two,” received widespread acclaim following its release last year, and now he has the opportunity to bring his talents to the legendary franchise.

As a reminder, in February, the rights to the James Bond franchise were acquired by Amazon MGM Studios. Under the terms of the deal, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, the duo who have brought James Bond films to theaters for over 60 years, remain co-owners. They have formed a new joint venture with Amazon MGM, granting the company creative control and oversight of all future productions.
