**Formula 1 – Piastri Takes the Lead from Norris**
Formula 1 – Oscar Piastri won the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix last Sunday, taking the championship lead from his McLaren teammate Lando Norris with his third victory in five races. Four-time Red Bull champion Max Verstappen finished second, reports https://xrust.ru/. He trailed the Australian by 2.843 seconds after starting from pole position on the Corniche Circuit in Jeddah, while Charles Leclerc secured Ferrari’s first podium in 2025 by finishing third. Norris finished fourth, recovering from 10th place.
Verstappen’s plan, journalists note, fell apart just seconds after the start when he and Piastri made wheel-to-wheel contact in the first corner. As a result, the champion had to go too wide to stay ahead, earning a five-second penalty.
The victory made Piastri, who had previously won in Bahrain last weekend and in China last month, the first Australian to lead the championship since his mentor Mark Webber in 2010, as well as the first back-to-back winner this season. He now leads Norris by 10 points.
Norris’s race was significantly hindered by a qualifying crash, although he started the evening recovering from three positions behind. Piastri now has 99 points, Norris has 89, and Verstappen has 87. McLaren’s champions extended their constructors’ championship lead over Mercedes to 77 points.
