**Honor has released the world’s thinnest foldable smartphone**
Honor has announced the Magic V5, which is currently the world’s thinnest foldable phone. However, the advertisement omits mentioning the raised camera module. The phone launches in China today, with a global release promised soon. According to Honor https://xrust.ru/, the V5 is indeed impressively thin at 8.8mm when folded, surpassing the 8.9mm Oppo Find N5. In practice, this 0.1mm difference is unnoticeable, although the slight curvature does make the Honor phone feel a hair thinner than the Oppo. This is true only for the “Ivory White” version of the phone, as other colors are slightly thicker—9mm, due to their fiber and vegan leather finish differing from the “special fiber” of the white model.
Another unmentioned fact—don’t overlook the camera module that extends beyond the promised dimensions. The triple rear camera module protrudes almost twice as much as Oppo’s. As a result, the phone feels thicker than its competitor. However, the superior specs, with higher resolution sensors and faster apertures in almost every aspect, may justify the extra bulk without detracting from its “world’s thinnest” status.
When unfolded, the V5’s frame is 4.1mm thick, once again slightly edging out the 4.2mm frame of the Oppo. It’s worth noting, however, that neither of these phones is as thin as Huawei’s triple Mate XT when opened. This battle of millimeters is not new territory for Honor. Before Oppo released the Find N5 earlier this year, the Honor Magic V3 was the thinnest foldable device on the market.
Next week, Samsung is expected to unveil a significantly thinner Galaxy Z Fold 7, though it will likely still be slightly thicker than Honor’s version.
