If you’re still living under the illusion of “saving for a dream,” it’s time to wake up: according to calculations by the Higher School of Economics (HSE), an average Russian needs ₽81,000 per month for a “normal life.” This is 14% more than last year, when a sufficient income was considered to be ₽70,800. Let’s break down the “comfort range.”
Not everyone is ready to blow their evening salary on coffee to-go: nearly 75% of respondents identified ₽30,000 to ₽100,000 per month as the “golden middle.” At the same time, the median has risen to ₽60,000, and the highest hopes are held by young people aged 25–34, who are the most optimistic about increasing their income.
