If the recipient is a CTemplar user, public keys will be retrieved from the servers, and the message will be encrypted using these public keys as well as the sender’s public key before being sent to the server. Once the recipient receives the message, they will need to decrypt it using their private key.
If the recipient is not a CTemplar user, the message will be sent to the server in plain text, where it will be encrypted for CTemplar users and sent as plain text to non-CTemplar users. If you need to send an encrypted email to a non-CTemplar user, you should set an encryption password along with a password hint.
