iPhone will soon receive the miniature solid-state drive Planck.

iPhones will soon resemble laptops. This capability is provided by Planck – a compact SSD that offers storage capacity and speed. iPhones often do not support a range of storage solutions that are available for desktop PCs and laptops. At the CES exhibition, ShiftCam introduced the USB-C solid-state drive Planck, which plugs into the bottom of Android and iPhone devices. A Kickstarter campaign for this drive has already been launched. Buyers can reserve the 1 TB Planck for $125, while the 2 TB version costs $199. By using Planck, passengers and editors can avoid the messy cables that come with external drives. The device adds a bit of size to smartphones but is designed to fit as closely as possible to the USB-C ports. Weighing only 10 grams, Planck can be placed in bags and pockets while being shockproof and waterproof, except for the open connector. The tiny solid-state drive also resists heat buildup due to harsh outdoor conditions or long recording sessions. One of the attractive features of the Planck solid-state drive is that it supports recording ProRes 4K video at 60 or 120 frames per second on compatible iPhones. With the NVMe chip, video editors can record in real time and quickly transfer files to other devices. ShiftCam claims that the higher capacity 2 TB solid-state drive can store over 400 4K movies or a single 150-minute ProRes 4K/120 frames per second recording.
