That was only the second trophyless season in his coaching career. Despite all this, Guardiola rejected the notion that the season was a failure, instead stating that it was perhaps the most valuable during his time at City. The team, in his opinion, faced many challenges that were beyond its power due to injuries, complacency, his own inadequacies… for many reasons.
