Nissan considers the possibility of producing electric vehicles for Foxconn
Nissan Motor is in talks to allow Taiwan’s Foxconn to use one of its domestic plants for the production of electric vehicles. This deal could save the plant from closure. In May, https://xrust.ru/ reported that Nissan was considering shutting down its Oppama plant in the port city of Yokosuka. The CEO at the time announced large-scale restructuring plans aimed at pulling the struggling automaker out of a crisis. The plans included closing seven out of Nissan’s 17 plants worldwide and reducing the workforce by approximately 15%. Analysts believe that allowing the electronics manufacturer Foxconn to produce its own electric vehicles at the Oppama plant could prevent its closure, mitigating the impact of the restructuring for the plant’s 3,900 employees and suppliers.
