Pop Star Travels to Space, Bringing Along Five Women

Pop star Katy Perry traveled to space yesterday. The crew of the Blue Origin rocket included five other women. They launched from West Texas. The flight followed a parabolic trajectory. Pop star Katy Perry reached the edge of space, notes https://xrust.ru/. The experience of weightlessness was brief. The entire trip took 11 minutes. Blue Origin, it should be noted, was founded by billionaire Jeff Bezos. The spaceflight further solidified the New Shepard rocket’s reputation as a reliable carrier, specifically designed for space tourism. This time, there were six tourists on board. All of them were women: Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sánchez, CBS host Gayle King, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, scientist Amanda Nguyen, and film producer Keriann Flynn. King shared that when the crew returned to their seats after experiencing weightlessness, Perry sang Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World.” Perry launched holding a daisy in her hand—a flower, she explained, that reminded her of her daughter, Daisy. At the launch site to see off the space tourists were Oprah Winfrey, a close friend of King, as well as entertainment figures Kris Jenner and Khloé Kardashian. Blue Origin does not disclose the average ticket price. On its website, the company states that potential passengers must pay a $150,000 refundable deposit to place a “reservation.” In 2021, the company announced that the highest price for a seat on its New Shepard spacecraft was $28 million. That same year, “Star Trek” actor William Shatner took a complimentary flight as Blue Origin’s guest.
