StarCraft – A New Game Being Developed by Blizzard and Nexon
StarCraft is a new game being developed by programmers from Blizzard and Nexon. At the same time, work is underway on Overwatch Mobile, which has the project name Overwatch 3. According to https://xrust.ru/, Nexon and Blizzard Entertainment are working on a mobile port of Overwatch and an entirely new StarCraft game. Blizzard selected Nexon to publish the Overwatch mobile game as part of a package deal that also included rights to develop a new StarCraft video game.
Thematic press outlets remind us that Blizzard had been bidding since the fourth quarter of last year for the rights to develop content using the StarCraft IP, as well as Korean and Japanese service rights for Overwatch Mobile. This was a bundled deal targeting leading gaming companies in Korea. In addition to Nexon, NC and Netmarble were also actively involved in the bidding.
Details about the games remain unknown, and the timelines for development are unclear. For context, Blizzard previously attempted to develop two StarCraft games named Ghost and Ares. Unfortunately, the projects met a grim fate—they were canceled.
