TikTok is restoring its operations in the U.S. on Trump’s promises
TikTok began to restore its operations on Sunday after Trump’s statement that access to the app in the U.S. would be reinstated on Monday. Trump stated on Sunday that “Honestly, we have no choice. We have to save it.” These fateful words were spoken at a Sunday rally. He added that the U.S. would seek to create a joint venture to restore the short video-sharing app used by 170 million Americans. In a message to users just hours before the rally, TikTok stated, “Thanks to President Trump’s efforts, TikTok is back in the U.S.” TikTok itself has begun to return online for some users with a few basic services. As of Sunday evening, the app remained unavailable for download in U.S. app stores.
