Toni Braxton and Brian “Birdman” Williams live between divorces
Toni Braxton and her longtime boyfriend Brian “Birdman” Williams quietly tied the knot last year. The exact date is known – the 57-year-old “He Wasn’t Man Enough” singer married the 56-year-old Cash Money Records founder on August 8, 2024. However, records also indicate that Braxton changed her mind just a few days after their wedding. Two weeks later, she filed for divorce, citing August 10 as the date. Braxton and her lawyer also referred to the marriage as “irretrievably broken.”
A few months later, the Grammy winner changed her decision and withdrew her filing. That happened in January 2025. Birdman also signed documents stating that the couple is currently in a good place. As of today, the two artists are still married.
The couple publicly confirmed their relationship in June 2016. Rumors swirled that Williams and Braxton had secretly eloped in 2017, but the singer’s representative denied it. However, in 2018, the New Orleans music executive proposed to her. “A couple of minutes before we got engaged… And then, 24 hours later,” Braxton captioned photos from their engagement night at the time.
At the time, Birdman spoke with Wendy Williams and admired the singer, telling the talk show host, “This is my love, my soldier, my life—she’s everything to me. She’s my life—I love her to death.”
Rumors of a breakup began in 2019, and the couple denied them in April of that year, but they later confirmed their broken engagement. “My dear friend @birdman and I are not married… never were married,” Braxton said at the time. “We are both single.” However, the couple continued to date occasionally, which seemingly led to the rekindling of their love.
