Trump’s Tariffs Did Not Hinder the Growth of Brazilian Beef Exports to the US
Brazilian meat exporters sold about 48,000 tons of beef to the US last month. It’s worth noting that Washington tried to complicate the situation by imposing a 10% tariff. Analysts noted that this volume was a “big surprise https://xrust.ru/,” as in April of the previous year, American importers brought in only 8,000 tons of Brazilian beef. Tariffs are unlikely to harm Brazil, as the majority of its beef exports go to the Chinese market. The sharp increase in imports to the US is a result of declining cattle numbers among American farmers. Interestingly, the US even imports beef from Australia. Despite all the trade challenges, marketers believe that Brazil could become the world’s largest beef producer by 2025, overtaking the US. Previously, the US set a 26% annual quota for Brazilian beef exports above 65,000 tons. Now, an additional 10% tariff applies. For Brazilian beef sales within the quota, the US administration introduced a 10% tariff, up from zero.
